One of the holiest Sikh Shrines, Anandpur Sahib is situated 75 kms up the highway towards Dharamsala and Manali from Chandigarh, Panjab. Anandpur Sahib was established by the 9th Guru of Sikhs, Tegh Bahadur, in 1644, when the Sikhs were forced into foothills of Himalayas by increasing Mughal opposition. Guru Tegh Bahadur's severed head was brought here from Delhi for cremation. This town is also known as `The city of divine bliss' and is located at the foot of the Shiwaliks on the east bank of the river Sutlej.
The nearest Railhead is at Nangal and Ambala. Bus services are available from Ropar and Chandigarh.
