Golden Temple:

The Golden temple is located in Amritsar, 450 km northwest of Delhi. Once the dense forest home of Gurunanak. One of the most blessed holy spot for Sikhs is also famous for its full golden dome. Maharaja Ranjit singh had build the upper half of building with approximately 400 kg of gold-leaf. The Temple is build on 67 ft square of marble and is a two storied structure. This temple is surrounded by a number of other famous temples like Durgiana temple. The Guru Ka Langar offers free food to around 22,000 to 1,00,000 devotees per day. Jallianwala Bagh, about five minutes from the Golden Temple, is where 2,000 Indians were killed or wounded when they were indiscriminately shot by the British in 1919. Rail: The Golden temple is 10 minutes auto rickshaw ride from Railway Station. From Delhi There are several trains to Golden temple, which takes 8 to 11 hours to reach. Train journey is more comfortable than taking a Bus. Bus journey is around 10 hours to Golden Temple. From Golden Temple you can take buses to Dehradun (10 hours), Dharamsala and Kullu (11 hours).

Anandpur Sahib:

One of the holiest Sikh Shrines, Anandpur Sahib is situated 75 kms up the highway towards Dharamsala and Manali from Chandigarh, Panjab. Anandpur Sahib was established by the 9th Guru of Sikhs, Tegh Bahadur, in 1644, when the Sikhs were forced into foothills of Himalayas by increasing Mughal opposition. Guru Tegh Bahadur's severed head was brought here from Delhi for cremation. This town is also known as `The city of divine bliss' and is located at the foot of the Shiwaliks on the east bank of the river Sutlej. The nearest Railhead is at Nangal and Ambala. Bus services are available from Ropar and Chandigarh.
