Coonoor, 1,858 mts (6,096 feet) above sea level, is the second largest hill station in the Nilgiris, with a population of 45,000 and is 13 km from Ooty. It lies on the eastern side of the Dodabetta Range at the head of the Hulikal Ravine. It has climate which is slightly warmer and less wet than that of Ooty, and has its share of period churches and boarding schools, its own branch of Spencer's and a golf course.

Kodaikanal, also known as Kodai, is a beautiful hill station at an altitude of about 2,133 m high on the southern ridge of Palani hills in Western Ghats. Wooded hills, pleasant walks, picturesque waterfalls and magnificent lake make Kodaikanal one of the most beautiful hill stations in India. The area of Kodaikanal is 21.45 sq km and it's population size is 27,461., while Kodaikanal receives annual average rainfall of 165 cm. But it can be visited throughout the year. Heavy rainfall occurs during October to December. One of the world's oldest solar observatories is situated in Kodaikanal, built in 1899.

The pride of Kodaikanal is the Kurinji-Flower, which blossoms once in 12 years. The hill-plantain fruits and plums are known for their freshness and taste.

Udhagamandalam is the another name for Ooty, is considered as the "Queen of Hill Stations". It is situated at an altitude of 2,286 m. The population size of Ooty is 87,000. Ooty sprawls over a large area of winding roads and steep climbs. The obvious focal point is Charing Cross, a busy junction on commercial Road. With its rolling lwans and salubrious climate Ooty has become the most important hill station in South India and the summer capital of the former Madras presidency.

Yercaud at an altitude of 1,500 mts (4,920 feet), stand in the Servaroyan (Shevaroy) Hills above the city of Salem in Tamilnadu, is considered as a Jewel of the South. Coffee and citrus fruits, most notably oranges, are grown in abundance apart from bananas, pears and jackfruit. Scenically, Yercaud is as enchanting and picturesque as the hill stations on the western ghats and trekking here can be one of the most pleasurable ways to spend the vacation.

Yercaud's population size is 36,863 (according to 1991 census) Around April there are the pleasant showers, which bring the coffee bushes into blossom. Yercaud can be visited round the year. It's an hour drive from Salem district and is the least expensive hill station in India. The cool climate attracted a number of Christian denominations and the sight of nuns and priests is not uncommon. They run the two prestigious schools - the Sacred Heart Convent for girls and the Montfort School for boys.
