Vaishnodevi is situated in Trikuta Mountains forming a part of the lower Himalayas as in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. There are images of three deities viz, the Mahakali, Maha-Lakshmi and Maha-Saraswati. The shrine is visited all around the year, but during winter the route is often blocked by heavy snow for many days.
For reaching Vaishnodevi, you should reach Katra (48 Km/30 mile) from Jammu. Buses leave for Katra from the General Bus Stand, Jammu, throughout the day. During peak season buses are also available from Jammu-Tawi railway station (Journey time two hours). The nearest airport is Jammu (61 Kms/38 mile) connected by Indian Airlines and Jet Airways flights with Delhi which in turn connected to major cities in India. The nearest rail head is Jammu well connected to all the major towns in India. Jammu is connected by road with Amritsar (243 Km/150 mile), Chandigarh (436 Km/ 270 mile), Delhi (586 Km/363 mile), Srinagar (305 Km/190 mile), Manali (426 Km/265 mile).
